Travel: Washington D.C.

Washington D.C, is a major tourist destination for many reasons. There are so many historic sites to visit, i.e., 19 Smithsonian Museums, the Washington Monument, the Library of Congress, and the White House. There are also famous restaurants to explore that have a variety of foods to try, i.e. Ben’s Chili Bowl, Busboys and Poets, Le Diplomate and the Capital Grille, just to name a few. To take a look at the non-traditional sights of the city, consider taking a D.C. tour bus around the city to see all of the colorful street art and murals.

Passions: Starting A Book Club

Reading books is definitely a passion for many baby boomers. Whether you like to turn the pages or listen to an audiobook or read electronically, sharing a good book with friends can be rewarding and fun. Starting a book club is another easy and cheap way to engage with family and friends.

Because you are the host, you get to set the ground rules for your club. When and where to meet, how often and what time of day. You also have to set some guidelines on discussions – some people talk more than others, some people can become intolerant to differing opinions and/or views. If you set ground rules first, then those who choose to become members will be willing to engage in lively discussions.
